Admissions

Choosing the right school for your child is a very important process.

We are happy to do all that we can to support prospective families in finding out more about the opportunities on offer at The Portsmouth Grammar School and to experience what makes this such a friendly and vibrant school.

We are fully co-educational throughout the school, which means that girls and boys can join from the age of 2½ in the Nursery.  Other main points of entry are 4+ and 7+, 11+, 13+ and 16+.  We may also be able to offer places in intermediate year groups and are experienced in supporting families who are relocating to the area from other parts of the UK or overseas.

To read and download information on the admissions process as well as other information including travel to school, uniform, school lunches and our scholarships and means-tested bursaries please click here.

If you would like to receive an information pack about the school, please complete the on-line application form or telephone 023 9236 0036 and speak to a member of our Admissions team.

Prospective families often start their journey by visiting our annual Open Morning in September.  You will be able to tour the whole school campus in the company of a pupil guide, enjoy a range of fun activities and meet the Headmaster and staff team.

If you would like to see the school in action on a normal week day, then why not come along to one of the Junior School Tour Mornings and Afternoons, or one of the Senior School Open Afternoons held regularly throughout the year?  There will be opportunities to see lessons in progress and facilities in action, to talk to pupils and staff, and to meet other families considering Portsmouth Grammar School for their children.

If you would prefer a personal family tour of the school and would like to have a meeting with the Headmaster or the Head of the Junior School, then please contact our Admissions team who will be pleased to make arrangements for a visit tailored to your interests and needs.

Our Admission team are always available to answer any queries and look forward to welcoming you to the school.
