How pupils make their way to school.

The school is well placed geographically and easily accessible by road, rail, ferry and hovercraft. Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth & Southsea rail stations are both within 15 minutes' walk of the school.

There is a frequent train service in all directions. Trains from the Harbour Station travel west to Hilsea, Cosham, Portchester, Fareham and Southampton; east to Hilsea, Havant, Emsworth, Southbourne, Bosham, Chichester, Bognor Regis, Littlehampton and Brighton. Trains from Portsmouth & Southsea station travel north to Hilsea, Bedhampton, Havant, Rowlands Castle, Petersfield, Liss, Liphook, Haslemere and Guildford.

The ferry terminals are within 15 minutes' walk of the school. The Gosport ferry runs every 7 minutes, and the Isle of Wight ferry operates an hourly and half-hourly service at different times of the day. The school is also within similar walking distance of the terminals for the Isle of Wight Hovercraft and Isle of Wight Catamaran services which run, on average, a twice-hourly service.

The school is well served by buses at regular intervals from all areas in SE Hampshire. There are bus stops within 5 minutes' walk of the school in St George's Road, Museum Road, the High Street, Cambridge Road and Kings Road. Other buses terminate in Commercial Road which is about 15 minutes' walk from the school.

    By Train

    The School is served by two stations: Portsmouth & Southsea, and Portsmouth Harbour. Both stations serve London Waterloo and London Victoria as well as several other main cities by cross-country routes. Not all trains proceed to the Harbour Station, which is slightly nearer the School.

    Directions from Portsmouth Harbour Station - By Bus:
  • Take Provincial buses 5, 6 or 7 from outside the station to the Cambridge Road/St. George's Road Junction.


  • Directions from Portsmouth Harbour Station - By Taxi:
  • From the station forecourt (Journey time 2-3 minutes).


  • Directions from Portsmouth Harbour Station - On foot:
  • On leaving the station, make for The Hard, following the line of the railway tracks away from the station.


  • On reaching the Hard turn right, aiming to pass under the railway bridge.


  • Proceed under the railway bridge, with the entry to Gunwharf on your right.


  • Continue, bearing left into St. George's Road, following the line of the old City fortifications.


  • After 100 yards, pass the old Landport Gate, which Turner considered painting, and through which Nelson entered Portsmouth on the eve of Trafalgar.


  • Part of the Junior School is on the left just before the next roundabout.


  • For the main school, take the third exit, signed 'Old Portsmouth, Cathedral' and enter the High Street.


  • The school is the first building on the left, and you enter via the main gateway which is always attended during school hours. (Journey time: 5-10 minutes).


  • Directions from Portsmouth & Southsea Station By Bus:
  • Cross into Commercial Road and take Provincial bus no. 7 to the Cambridge Road/St. George's Road Junction.


  • Directions from Portsmouth & Southsea Station By Taxi:
  • From the station forecourt (journey time 2-3 minutes).


  • Directions from Portsmouth & Southsea Station On Foot:
  • Cross the main road (Commercial Road) outside the station.


  • Turn left and walk through Guildhall Square, continuing on down Guildhall Walk, passing the New Theatre Royal on the right.


  • Cross dual carriageway using pedestrian lights or the underpass.


  • Turn right into Hampshire Terrace and at the next set of pedestrian lights cross the one way system (University of Portsmouth building), crossing again into Cambridge Road and proceed to the roundabout ahead.


  • Take the second exit (High Street) and the school is the first building on the left. You enter via the main gateway which is always attended during school hours. (Journey time: 10-15 minutes).

    By Hovercraft

    There is a regular Hovercraft service from Ryde to Southsea.

  • On leaving the terminal, proceed alongside Southsea Common down Pier Road.


  • At the roundabout, turn left into Gordon Road, which becomes Pembroke Road, and ends at the High Street opposite the Cathedral.


  • Turn right down the High Street.


  • The school is the last building on the right.


  • On a fine day, a more pleasant walk is along the seafront and ramparts to Battery Row at the bottom of the High Street, then down from the Ramparts and past the Cathedral, continuing up the High Street to the school.


  • You enter via the main gateway which is always attended during school hours.

    By Seacat Catamaran

    There is a regular service from Ryde to Portsmouth Harbour Station.

    By Wightlink Ferry

    From Fishbourne (IOW) to the Town Ferry Terminal.
  • On leaving the terminal, bear left, (signposted 'Out of City') into St. George's Road.


  • Part of the Junior School is situated 200 yards on the left hand side.


  • For the Senior School, turn right at the roundabout ahead into the High Street and the School is immediately on the left hand side.


  • You enter via the main gateway which is always attended during school hours.

    By Gosport Ferry

    There is a shuttle service from Gosport to Portsmouth Harbour Station.

    Directions from Portsmouth Harbour Station - By Bus:
  • Take Provincial buses 5, 6 or 7 from outside the station to the Cambridge Road/St. George's Road Junction.


  • Directions from Portsmouth Harbour Station - By Taxi:
