Each year in June, the Portsmouth Grammar School, in partnership with Portsmouth City Council, puts on an exciting ten-day programme of Music, Art, Drama, Talks, Walks and Dance, open to all members of the public.
In 2008 the annual Portsmouth Festivities will celebrate Portsmouth’s
role as the gateway to and from the continent, with a programme
of events with a European theme, marking the European Year of Intercultural
Dialogue. Events will celebrate the 21st anniversary of the City’s
Twinning with Caen, and the City’s Twinning with Duisburg.
The programme will feature a broad range of events with a European
flavour, from France, Italy and Spain to much further afield.
An impressive line-up of performers and speakers of international
renown will perform and work with young people from Portsmouth.
A BBC broadcast from the Festivities, Lunchtime Young Artists’
Recitals, Twilight Recitals, Jazz, Dance, Drama, Opera, Comedy,
Exhibitions, high profile speakers, children’s events and
education projects, model boats, food and more complete what promises
to be a spectacular Festivities.
