Pupils Prepare for Sixth Form
A forum on subject options is to take place in the New Year following the success of the recent Sixth Form and Beyond Day for Year 11 pupils and their parents. It is to be held on January 28th 6:30-8:00pm in the DRT. Existing year 11 pupils and external candidates are all welcome to attend along with their parents. This is an ideal opportunity to meet subject teachers and to consider courses for Sixth Form study.
Sixth Form and Beyond on November 19th began with an introduction to life in years 12 and 13 and presentations on university and career choices as well as a look at the school's innovative General Studies programme, (which involves more than 30 courses), and subject and options information.
This was followed by house-based, against-the-clock, team building exercises where designated 'earners' had to provide the resources for the rest of their group to create a story board. With four teams per house, each had to provide one-quarter of the story, putting them together at the end of the morning. The art work is on show outside house bases.
Assistant Head and Head of Sixth Form Lara Pechard said, “Everyone had great fun and pupils were able to reflect on their own strengths and weaknesses. On a more serious note, this was an opportunity for pupils and parents alike to find out more about UCAS and careers support available to students at PGS, where more than 90 per cent of Sixth Formers secure a place at their first choice university.”

The afternoon was spent visiting Heads of Departments and at presentations on potential A Level subjects. It was followed by an evening event for parents and external would-be Sixth Form pupils.
Currently the school enjoys a large Sixth Form of 290 across Lower and Upper Sixth.
