Chairman Toasts Parents and Pupils
The chilly January air couldn't dampen the spirits of Portsmouth Grammar School pupils and their parents and teachers, who gathered to celebrate their GCSE and A'Level success. This year, a record fourteen pupils received letters from examination boards informing them that they had achieved results that were among the top 5 in the country. Between them, board prizes were awarded in nineteen separate examinations; an astonishing level of achievement.
The Headmaster, Mr James Priory, congratulated the pupils and, in particular, thanked their parents, who had offered stalwart support throughout the examinations.
The Chairman of Governors, Mr David Bawtree, also warmly welcomed the pupils and their families and drew attention to those pupils who had achieved Board Prizes in more than one subject. Samuel Evans received accolades in three separate subjects, while star pupil, Jemima Hodkinson, also in the Lower Sixth, scooped no fewer than five board prizes in; English, Biology, Drama, English Literature and French.
Also celebrating were prize-winners Freya Scoates and Katherine Sage, who joined the Sixth Form this year.
