The energy and passion for music making shown by our pupils in the annual House Music Competition in the cathedral on Wednesday night was higher than ever.  The revamped competition format clearly encouraged greater participation, greater imagination and musicianship. High calibre solo performances from Year 7 to Year 13 were paired with classy close harmony vocal ensembles, sophisticated Baroque duets, grooving rock numbers and exuberant large ensembles.  A real celebration of music, music-making and collaborative work.  Adjudicator, Mr Peter Gritton, commented on the wealth of talent, energy and enjoyment and the fact that close on 150 pupils from were representing their houses so proudly in their music making.  Many congratulations to Smith & Hawkey who lifted the trophy for the first time in 4 years.
