As part of the D Day commemorations a number of our senior and junior musicians were heavily involved in services at St Thomas’ Cathedral last Sunday. Two of these services were broadcast/recorded for broadcast on BBC radio. The Sunday Service on Radio 4 was sung by Cantate, featuring a number of our girls in Years 7-13 and Choral Evensong was recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on Wednesday 5th June, this featured a number of our boys in Years 4-9. They all performed beautifully and we should be very proud of their achievement and the way in which they represented the school, city and nation. They are well worth a listen (links below) – the liturgy, as ever, is excellent. Many congratulations to David Price, Sachin Gunga, the Gap Year team and Canon Jo, the Dean and the everyone at the cathedral.

Another pupil involved with the D Day 75 commemorative events was Vishvesh Mehta (Year 12) who was invited to attend the service in his role as the Lord Mayor’s Cadet. “Throughout the event I was meeting veterans who had served on D Day and serving members of the armed forces from Royal Marines to American airmen,” said Vishvesh. “I was in the marquee tent for the lunch where I spoke with Jeremy Corbyn, Prince Charles and President Donald Trump. It was a great experience to represent the Lord Mayor and the school on a day that I will never be able to forget.” Some of the pictures above were taken by Vishvesh on Wednesday.
