The Music Department launched in to the rehearsals for the Remembrance Concert with gusto last week. Conductor Jonathan Willcocks came in to school to rehearse with the Chamber Choir and the choir from Castle Primary School, Portchester, who will be joining us for the performance in St Thomas’ Cathedral.

The concert on the eve of Remembrance will commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the D-Day Landings with a new piece composed by PGS pupils and staff, as well as featuring Lux Perpetua by Jonathan Willcocks.  Other pieces that will be performed are On the Banks of Green Willow by Butterworth, Concerto Movements for Marimba by Paul Creston, Piano by Mozart and Shostakovich and Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man.

Performers will be The Portsmouth Grammar School Chamber Choir, Chamber Orchestra, Community Choir, Middle School Singers, PGS Junior Choir, Castle Primary School and the London Mozart Players – conducted by Jonathan Willcocks.

The concert will be on Sunday 10th November in St Thomas’ Cathedral, tickets are available by clicking here.
