Year 13 pupils have been receiving good news about their university applications, with much more expected to come over the next few months. Pupils have applied for some of the most competitive universities and courses in the country with seven receiving offers from Oxford and Cambridge, in subject areas ranging from Modern Foreign Languages to Engineering, Physics and Natural Sciences. Congratulations to Dominic Ager, French and Italian (Lincoln, Oxford); Matt Bryan, Engineering (Magdalene, Cambridge); Daniel Fremantle (OP 2019), Spanish and Portuguese (Trinity, Oxford); Tilly Goldman, French (St Hilda’s, Oxford); Felix Johnson, Philosophy, Politics and Economics (University, Oxford); Alistair Wilson, Natural Sciences (Emmanuel, Cambridge); Freddy Wood, Physics (St Peter’s, Oxford).

Alongside these, seven pupils that applied for Medicine and Veterinary Science courses and 17 applicants for Engineering courses have received offers. To date, among the UK’s top-ranked universities, 22 pupils have received offers from Bath, 11 from Durham, three from Imperial College London and one from St Andrew’s, with more news undoubtedly to come from these traditionally late-deciding institutions. Large numbers of our pupils have received offers from all five of the universities they have applied to. PGS pupils continue to maintain an international perspective, with applications to universities in the United States, Canada and Italy. In addition, a number of Year 13 pupils are exploring pathways beyond the university sector, in particular degree apprenticeships and higher apprenticeships that offer increasingly dynamic opportunities.

To help all pupils in the Senior School evaluate the variety of career opportunities open to them, the PGS Careers and Universities department is offering a programme of Careers Lunches every Friday this term, with visiting experts speaking on careers in: the creative arts, tech industry, conservation, civil service, pharmaceutical industry/clinical research, economics, F1 motorsport engineering and entrepreneurship. For further information about some or all of these events, please contact Miss Fewings, the Careers and Universities Administrator by clicking here.
