Congratulations to Year 12 pupil Theo Hornsey who completed the Portsmouth Coastal Half Marathon at the beginning of the half term break.
Theo raised almost £600 by taking part in this fairly gruelling, cold and muddy run in aid of the Cancer Research UK charity. Just 10 months ago Theo spent time in the Piam Brown paediatric oncology ward at Southampton General Hospital after he was diagnosed with a spinal tumour and compressed spinal cord. Thankfully the tumour was benign and Theo has been able to make a full and very impressive recovery.
“The Piam Brown ward and all the staff at the hospital made something terrifying into something manageable,” says Theo. “They took it a day at a time and I never felt alone or confused.”
Theo chose to raise money for Cancer Research UK as so many people he and his family know, of all ages, are affected by cancer.
The Just Giving page set up by Theo is still available; if you would like to donate please click here.
