It was back in to the new term with a splash for Year 5 as they started their topic for this term, ‘Caring for our Coasts’. The launch activity involved team building, problem solving, communication and resilience. Their challenge was to make a boat that floats and sails, using only recycled materials. They then launched their boats in the Junior School swimming pool and evaluated why some boats were more successful than others. Very impressively, no boats were sunk in the launching of this topic!
Next, they will be writing their own blog on how they can care for our coasts and look forward to learning to sail at the Andrew Simpson Centre in May.
