Old Portmuthians

Our alumni have fascinating and diverse careers and we want to harness this experience to help inspire current students. We also know that young OPs are facing strong competition in today’s workplace and we are here to help.

The school’s Development Office exists to help our global community of former pupils, their parents, former staff and others who share an interest in the school to stay connected with everything that is happening at PGS.

This involves:

  • publishing the award-winning alumni magazine, OPUS, and regular e-newsletters
  • arranging reunions and other dedicated events
  • raising money to support means-tested bursaries and other special projects in the school through The William Smith Fund
  • administering a range of travel awards to support senior pupils and young alumni undertaking voluntary and charitable work, often overseas. Please see below for more information on these awards.

An integral part of the work of the Development Office is to assist pupils and young alumni with their career aspirations by identifying alumni, parents and other friends of the school willing to share their experience in a particular field.

This might be in the form of a careers talk (either at the school or online), CV assistance, mock interviews, online mentoring, work experience or even internships and other work placements.

If you would like to share your valuable knowledge, experience and contacts with today’s sixth formers and young OPs, please get in contact by emailing [email protected].

Or if you are a young OP getting started in your career, please do also get in touch. We may just have alumni contacts to enable you to acquire the knowledge and insight that will help you stand out from the crowd.

Additionally, if you’d like to join our online community and connect with hundreds of other OPs, please visit  PGS Connect.
