PGS boasts first-class sports facilities at their spacious grounds in Hilsea, conveniently located off the M27. In addition to cricket, hockey, rugby, football, netball and tennis on this site, Hilsea Playing Field’s stunning Fawcett Pavilion, with views over the pitches, is the ideal destination for meetings, seminars and training events.

Our multi-purpose sports hall can host a range of indoor sporting activities. The court-marked, non-slip floor surface offers 4 badminton courts, 2 basketball courts, 5 cricket nets, (matting and ball machines can also be provided), an indoor football pitch, a hockey pitch and volleyball.
There is a climbing wall, available for hire by fully qualified instructors. This would be possible provided the necessary documentation is provided.

The Portsmouth Grammar School marquee is available to hire in late spring/summer. Set within 19 acres of immaculate playing fields, our marquee offers a unique setting just a stone’s throw from the city.

Our bright, air-conditioned dance studio benefits from a smooth wooden floor, making it the ideal location for dance and performance rehearsals. Ballet barres are readily available and can be set up in front of the mirrored wall. The dance studio is also the perfect location for yoga, pilates and other fitness classes. It benefits from on site parking and adjacent toilets.

This elegant assembly hall has exposed beams and a high ceiling. It is a bright space, with large, dual-aspect windows, with a capacity of 60 cabaret and 100 theatre – style. The hall is located adjacent to classrooms, all equipped with whiteboards and projectors that can be used for education purposes and as break out rooms.

This versatile hall has a wooden floor, making it an ideal venue for dance and fitness classes. Tables and chairs are available to turn this into a meeting space and it enjoys direct access, via double doors, onto our secure front courtyard, which features a manicured lawn, planters and benches.

This multi-functional hall can be used for archery, with a custom-made curtain that can be drawn across at one end of the hall, creating a target range. The Old Gym also lends itself to martial arts, as it is smaller than our main sports hall and gym mats are readily available for use.

Alongside our thriving Performing Arts programme at PGS, The David Russell theatre has played host to a huge variety of performances, from internationally renowned groups, such as the Royal Marine Band, to local dance schools’ annual shows.
Our creative and knowledgeable technical team will support clients in taking full advantage of this amazing venue. The tiered seating comfortably allows for an audience of 300. The theatre is adjacent to our large dining hall, which provides the perfect location for pre-theatre or interval drinks. Our catering team will happily work with clients to provide refreshments.

Our lecture theatre has a capacity of 100 in tiered seating and benefits from state-of-the-art audio visual equipment, providing the perfect location for training, conferences and educational events. The lecture theatre is directly accessed from a bright foyer, for refreshments or as a breakout space.

This large, versatile space benefits from floor to ceiling windows, bathing it in natural light. There is a projector and screen that can be lowered for presentations and technician support is available upon request. Capacity of the room is 150 theatre style and 80 cabaret style. The Sixth Form Centre leads directly onto the Quad, which provides a perfect outdoor breakout space and somewhere to enjoy some fresh air. There is a refreshments bar located at one end of the room and catering can be provided by our experienced team.

The Willis Room has a capacity of 30 as a conference room and 60 set up theatre style. There is a projector and screen that can be lowered for presentations and technician support is available upon request. This room is adjacent to our large dining hall and catering can be provided if required.

This large area, located in the heart of the school consists of two adjoining rooms and a small kitchen which together provide an excellent space for a conference or meeting. The principal common room is flooded with natural light with large dual aspect windows and is set up as a relaxed breakout room, with comfortable sofas arranged around coffee tables. It is a versatile space that can be adapted to suit requirements; tables and chairs can be arranged, cabaret-style to create a more formal environment.

Our bright and spacious classrooms are fitted with whiteboards and projectors and can be hired for educational purposes – summer schools, training events and meetings.

Our modern, purpose-built Pavilion enjoys views across the PGS playing fields, which provide the perfect backdrop for any conference, team-building, meeting or training event. The pavilion is bathed in light by the windows that extend the full length of the building,
The Pavilion boasts state-of-the-art audio-visual and AV systems and has a capacity for up to 200 guests. There is a large conservatory that is a natural breakout or relaxation space in addition to a balcony that stretches the length of the building. The kitchen allows for any catering requirements to be met by our experienced team.

Cricket Squares
Our two cricket squares can be hired along with the nets at Hilsea. The Fawcett Pavilion is available to accommodate cricket teas in comfortable surroundings, with a long, sun-drenched balcony and orangery, overlooking the sports facilities. There is also the option of a smaller kitchen area, that can be used for this purpose. Our catering team will be happy to work with you on any refreshments if required.
Hockey Pitch
Our sand-dressed hockey pitch is available to hire until 20:00 during the week and 18:00 at the weekend. The pitch benefits from LED flood lights. Toilets are available and there is parking on site. Please note that only trainers and astro boots may be warn on the pitch.
Rugby Pitch
There are four rugby pitches available for hire at Hilsea. Spectators can stand pitch-side or they might chose to watch from the comfort of the Fawcett Pavilion, which boasts floor to ceiling windows and a balcony overlooking the main pitch. The pavilion or small kitchen area are available at an additional cost. Changing rooms are available on request.
Football
There are three football pitches available for hire at our Hilsea grounds. Two measure 40 x 30 m and one measures 40 x 28 m. These pitches are normally used for 5 or 7 aside football.
Hard Courts – Netball and Tennis
Two hard courts (tarmac surface) are available for tennis or netball with relevant nets. Floodlights are not available for these courts.
