The athletics season has started off with some fantastic results and PGS athletes have been enjoying some favourable conditions.

On Bank Holiday Monday those favourable conditions deserted them, but their will and determination did not. PGS had 7 athletes competing in the Hampshire Multi Events. Here they compete over the day in 5 disciplines; hurdles, long jump, high jump, shot, 800m/1500m. They all competed to an excellent level and despite the fresh and windy conditions some even saw PB's. They were competing alongside some of the best club athletes in the County and were a credit to PGS Sport.

The notable results from the day included:

U17 Boys:

1st- Harry B

2nd - Luke T

3rd - Josh J

U17 Girls:

1st - Rosie L

Later this term they will compete in the Hampshire Schools Competition and will have a strong chance to be selected for the Hampshire team to compete in the Inter Counties match later this term.

On Tuesday the Year 13 Leavers and staff played in their annual ‘mix in match’. The event was full of fun and enjoyment with plenty of skill and experience on show. This match is always a fitting book end to the pupils hockey playing time at PGS.

The match itself saw plenty of goals (14) and excitement in play as it soon became an end to end thriller. As the last ever match featuring the Mr Gammon Select versus the Mr Leach Eleven, it ended an era spanning over a decade of the two working together, with many of the pupils playing in the game being coached by both since the Junior School. Thanks to all who were involved in the match and good luck to all our amazing leavers.

Leaver captains: Scarlett S and Will M

This week has seen the U14/15 girls' cricket team win their opening county cup game, with a 76 run win against Portsmouth High School for Girls, and our U13 and U15 boys' tennis teams enjoyed matches with KES Southampton.

Today, our Year 13's start their study leave period, and on behalf of the Sports Department, we would like to thank them for their immense contribution to PGS Sport over the years. Many will still be playing cricket, tennis and athletics over the next couple of months, and this just highlights their enjoyment of and commitment to PGS Sport.

This weekend sees our cricket teams taking on KES Southampton, and our athletes competing in the Hampshire Championships. Good luck to all of our pupils across both sports.
